Xaria:
Elementary Tackle,
Pennsylvania
“The Keep Her in the Game Grant…will keep me in the game because I'll have a better-fitting helmet.
Every year I get a helmet that isn't so great, or it breaks after I'm tackling. I hate that halfway through a game I have to get a new helmet or wait to get it fixed and use someone else's helmet during a game.
This brand-new helmet will be mine and not used by different people for years.”
Keep Xaria in the Game: Her Story
Xaria started her football career by playing flag with her brother. She found herself tackling while playing flag and tried out for tackle the next season. The 11-year-old plays safety, corner, and wide receiver. A true competitor, Xaria loves football and proving wrong anyone who may have something negative to say. She fought her nerves to take the field for her first tackle game and said that, “Once I did my first hit, I knew it was meant to be. My mom, grandmother, and brother were running down the sidelines with me, and I loved how it made me feel.”
"I'm really shy and have anxiety, but on that field, I get to let out the beast.
My favorite moment was when I got my 1st touchdown. No one could catch me!"
