Myla:
WNFC Tackle
Washington Prodigy
“Through the continuous hard work, dedication, and hard hitting on the field, the Keep Her in the Game Grant will help me stay protected.
It will allow me to continue paving the way for the future FEMALE football stars coming up behind me. They deserve to see women to look up to in the football world, as do the boys with NFL players, and I believe that I am that image for them."
Keep Myla in the Game: Her Story, in Her Words
"I knew football was for me when I earned a starting position as a DB for Washington Prodigy after just joining the team 2 weeks before the first game. Six games later, I was on the stat lines for the most interceptions in the 2024 season. My favorite moment so far was returning one of those interceptions for a 9 point touchdown.
August 2023 is when I started playing flag football and March 2024 is when I started playing tackle football. I needed a fun, competitive way to get back into shape after having 2 children, in 2021 and 2022. The level of competitiveness played a huge role in the amount of work I put in to get where I am today. To keep up with the 7+ year veterans and younger women, the work was far from easy.
No matter how competitive or how much trash talking there may be, it’s always love between you and your opponent. The level of respect shown at the end of each game, win, lose or draw, is an amazing thing to witness.
Football has helped me realize that life is what you make it. If you don’t put the work in, you can’t expect great things to happen for you. Dreams are just dreams if there is no action behind it in making that dream come to life."
