Keep Alysa in the Game: Her Story
Alysa grew up always wanting to play football with the boys. She wasn’t allowed.
She was always a natural athlete, and her main sport was track. Alysa went through a period of time where track wasn’t bringing her joy. Finally, she had an opportunity to get on the field. She says, “I kept trying to find things to help me connect back to my sport, and one day I played flag football… For the first time in forever, I felt happy doing something.”
Her favorite football moment so far was when she met coach Angelica Grayson, Texas Elite Spartans WNFC Champion and coach. Alysa gives a shoutout: “This woman deserves everything she should have in life because she's truly a helper.” Coach Grayson introduced Alysa to more football camps, where she was able to realize her potential.
Alysa works hard to inspire her six siblings, using athletics as a path to grow and embrace her own happiness.
“Football has helped me grow as a person because it showed me to have confidence and to give it your all.”
